Boo who? It’s us – we didn’t mean to ghost on you! After a one-year absence, we are back with a bouquet of globalized beats. This is also the first Boo Hoo since Ziúr released her debut full-length, U Feel Anything?, on Planet Mu. Following her release party at Berghain, Ziúr is back at Südblock with Joey Hansom, who for this edition have sniffed out some rising talent: Brazilian-born Lyzza is a DJ/producer/vocalist based in Amsterdam, having released her debut EP in November on Los Angeles-based label Symbols. Sharing this trifecta of talents is Englesia, a Chinese native who now lives in London as part of the UNITI collective, creating club nights and a show on Radar Radio. Joining them will be local rookie Auco, a member of the No Shade crew – plus a special guest TBA!

you survived Chrimbo, and this week before New Year’s is kinda pointless, so hey, why not meet up with your chosen family at Südblock for a lil dance?

SWAN MEAT moved from Washington, D.C., to Chicago earlier this year and started a new path as DJ/producer. she puts metalcore, opera and spoken word into a cage and shakes it (really hard like this RRRGGGGHHH) till they start to fight. who will win?? we, the listeners! in her own words, Swan Meat’s upcoming EP (on French label Permalnk) sounds like “one part Metroid on a broken console, two parts rococo doom carnival”. this is her Berlin debut.

Ni-Kü is a DJ, vocalist and writer based in London. they deliver hard vogue with the velocity of a wrecking ball, choral abstractions and heavy, emotive vocal flips. they are the founder of the afterTouch party and host a regular show on Radar Radio. Ni-Ku is another Berlin debutante. horny!

also playing will be Swiss producer Bonaventure, champion of Berlin Community Radio’s Incubator series. her debut single “Complexion” was released in October via NON Worldwide, bolstered by a remix from Chino Amobi.

we are also happy to welcome back Lakuti: the founder of Uzuri Recordings holds an honorary degree in house music. she spreads good vibes in her DJ sets around the world and also curates a regular club night at that famous Berlin nightclub – what’s it called again? Bärhai?

also repping Berlin is Dis Fig, a member of the PTP crew from her hometown of New York. she calls herself “a medium between street culture and the ever-mutating micro-scenes of the 2.0” , hopscotching from grime to baile to ballroom sounds in her DJ sets. she will back-to-back with BOO HOO co-founder and resident DJ Ziúr.

of course, co-founder and resident Joey Hansom will also be there to help kill off this year in style!

ears of joy! we’re back in action at our usual haunt with some prime talent lined up: Brooklyn DJ/producer Celestial Trax is known for his EPs on PTP and Rinse Recordings – he also found new listeners co-hosting a show on RinseFM with Björk. aside from his skittery, jittery space-age solo work, Mr. Trax has also crafted beats for rappers Dai Burger, Quay Dash and BOO HOO alum Jay Boogie.

recently dislocated from Leipzig, bringing the filth will be Silkbless, a NON Worldwide affiliate known for his collaborative project The Movement Trust amongst several other secret aliases and side projects.

newcomer Jackie, a transplant from Zurich, is already making wavs, thanks to her involvement with the online community Sister and her contribution to the latest Staycore compilation, Erelitha.

let’s see, what else? resident DJ Ziúr (who just dropped a new EP on Objects Ltd. in september) and our transhuman buddy Born in Flamez are gonna be dueling with their USB sticks for a grimey back-to-back set. beware of sonic shrapnel – safety goggles recommended (cool fashion statement too). and as usual, Joey Hansom will bring beats and bass for bouncing booties.

The last BOO HOO was maybe the best yet, but now, we’re topping ourselves. Must be because we love pizza! Yes indeed, we are piling on all the fixings for our supreme summer edition. We’ve got a different location this time: Ballhaus Berlin, the city’s oldest ballroom, including a crucial outdoor area. The lineup, though…

We read that footwork is cool, which is why we put a shoe on our flyer and invited Air Max ‘97 to play. Kidding. But no, yeah, this Melbourne-based DJ/producer has broken through the noise with what he calls “oblique club trax” for a handful of different labels (including his own, Decisions), plus his remix for Kelela on Warp.

We’re also pumped for the Berlin debut of Kilbourne, now living in New Orleans but still honoring her native Jersey club roots (which also explains her remix for fellow NJ kid Cakes Da Killa). Her newest release, though, Sourland, tends toward hardcore rave sounds of the 90s, when she was probably watching Nickelodeon.

@LILINTERNEThas the kind of CV that makes us feel super lazy. He’s directed vids for Beyoncé and Boys Noize, produces tracks for Azealia Banks, writes for art journals and coined the term “seapunk” (remember that?). For his set, he promises a mix of rap, house, classics and other random stuff.

Part of the Staycore crew, mobilegirl is one of Berlin’s up-and-comingest DJs, deranging dancehall into dark, digital debris. Meanwhile, SoundCloud is trying to figure out how to monetize all the streams of her unauthorized remixes of J-Lo, Brandy and the like.

This edition of BOO HOO is also the release party for the new EP by resident Ziúr: released July 1 via Infinite Machine, Taiga sounds kinda like some feral computer viruses corrupted your Varèse and Art of Noise mp3s. This will be the first time she does a live set at our party!

As usual, Joey Hansom will grace the dancefloor with his savory stench, combining convulsive beats and melodic sheen.

BOO HOO is springing back into action for April. Joining this time are Karim & Karam, who promise a barrage of transglobal sounds that will cover you in neon leopard print. Forming this Stockholm DJ duo are Karin Dreijer (a.k.a. Fever Ray) and her...

BOO HOO is springing back into action for April. Joining this time are Karim & Karam, who promise a barrage of transglobal sounds that will cover you in neon leopard print. Forming this Stockholm DJ duo are Karin Dreijer (a.k.a. Fever Ray) and her cohort from The Knife’s stage ensemble, Maryam Nikandish. K+K Music Factory gonna make you sweat! There isn’t an emoji to properly express our excitement.

Also on board is wiz kid Why Be: Tobias Lee was born in Korea and now based between Berlin and Copenhagen. No longer a local secret, he has been enjoying a rising international profile, especially since his Snipestreet EP was released last fall via Rabit’s label Halcyon Veil. He’s also collaborated with Elysia Crampton, whom he joined onstage during her set last month at Berghain. His DJ sets are an innovative collage of anything from ballroom to grime to rap to everything else we like.

Before, after and in between are your trusty BOO HOO residents, driven to temporarily distract you from your Weltschmerz: Ziúr and Joey Hansom. We gotta break it to you, our dearest crew member Sullivan (f.k.a. Rodeo) is gonna kick it in Australia and on top of that a lil bit sooner than we expected. But to take his place this time, we’ve invited Dove Cake. This will be good!

Our first party of 2016 also serves as our first anniversary. But instead of focusing on self-congratulation, let’s just skip right to the talent, which is much more exciting…

Our first party of 2016 also serves as our first anniversary. But instead of focusing on self-congratulation, let’s just skip right to the talent, which is much more exciting…

KABLAM first turnt our eardrums a few years back as part of the Janus crew. More recently, she has released a track on Staycore, remixed Dan Bodan, toured with Evian Christ and probably done a lot of other impressive stuff that we don’t even know about. Listening to her adventurous DJ sets is like licking a blue raspberry battery, except for the fact that it’s actually possible.

TAMI TAMAKI is a soft and sensual, horny and hardcore DIY EDM artiste who sings, makes beats and plays a bejeweled keyboard. Her brand of Scandinavian J-Pop has won over thousands of screaming teeny-boppers of all ages, and her songs have been featured in a number of feature-length films—one, to be exact. This is her first Berlin appearance since playing at New York’s legendary performance space The Kitchen last year.

SEB is one-third of kick-ass music collective Tropical Waste, based in London. There they host regular parties and a radio show on NTS, featuring all sorts of new and twisted club sounds, exactly the kind that makes us gasp.

The lineup is completed by our resident DJs ZIÚR—who released a new single and went on tour with Peaches in December—and JOEY HANSOM—who found ten euros on the ground last week, just laying there on the sidewalk in broad daylight, can you believe it?

Time Out: “By day, Südblock is a popular community space, café and diner. By night, it’s a dancing queen’s dream – especially during Boo Hoo’s monthly sessions, where resident DJs Joey Hansom, Ziùr and Rodeo spin a winning mix of R&B, UK bass and...

Time Out: “By day, Südblock is a popular community space, café and diner. By night, it’s a dancing queen’s dream – especially during Boo Hoo’s monthly sessions, where resident DJs Joey Hansom, Ziùr and Rodeo spin a winning mix of R&B, UK bass and twerky pop. The queer-leaning night is cheap and just the right kind of tacky, and rounds up a mixed, open-minded, drama-free crowd.”

Don’t worry, we’re still with you! It’s been a few months, but of course we wanted to fit in one more party before the year ends. This time, we overlap with the annual Berlin Voguing Out Festival (Dec. 8-12), so we’ve decided to team up with their...

Don’t worry, we’re still with you! It’s been a few months, but of course we wanted to fit in one more party before the year ends. This time, we overlap with the annual Berlin Voguing Out Festival (Dec. 8-12), so we’ve decided to team up with their lovely crew for their official party on Friday night.

With that in mind, we’ve got New York legend Vjuan Allure on the lineup. Active since the late 80s—before he was of legal age to get inside the club—Vjuan is a DJ, producer and dancer who has contributed to ballroom culture like no other. You know “The Ha Dance”, the track that’s been sampled to death in vogue house (and earlier this year by Lotic)? Yeah, Vjuan started that whole trend. Better brush up on your pops, dips and locks.

In this day and age, it takes a hell of a lot of skill and stamina to start an international DJ career without releasing your own music. Berlin’s own Sarah Farina has done just that over the last couple years, with nimble fingers and a fine-tuned ear that collects tracks into her unbeatable sonic repository. She calls her eclectic style “rainbowbass”—we’re looking forward to hearing all the pretty colors.

New on our radar is Hunnid Jaws. Our jaws kinda sorta dropped when we first heard Call Dibs, the show she co-hosts on Berlin Community Radio. This Brooklyn expat has a wide-ranging taste in tracks, from grime to dancehall to hip-hop, always juxtaposed with cohesion—she describes it as a mix of “dystopian-chic beats”.

Completing the lineup are Ziúr and Joey Hansom from the BOO HOO team, helping to catalyze the motion of your booties.
